Pride of Poteau Marching and Concert Band

2012-2013 Calendar of Events

Nightly rehearsal: Monday night from 5 pm-8 pm for marching season and 5 pm-7 pm for concert season.

The Pride of Poteau Marching and Concert Band is a Sweepstakes (similar to a state championship) winning organization. They have repeatedly proved their level of outstanding skill at innumerable competitions and concerts.

For the 2012-2013 marching season, the drum major (or student leader and director of a marching band) was Hanna Crandell.

Just a few of the awards they have won are as follows: a Sweepstakes, Grand Championship of a competition with several 6A bands (including Durant, Midwest City, Guthrie, etc.), Outstanding Drum line and Drum Major at every competition that gave awards for each caption, and Superior ratings at Regional Marching Competition in McAlester for four consecutive years.

Also, Poteau has put several students in the All-District Honor Band and the Small School All-State Honor Band.

The following students represented Poteau in the 2012 Small School All-State Honor Band: Wyatt Helms and Travis Knapp on clarinet; Caleb Hobday, Blane Toney, and John Wilkerson for percussion; and Hanna Crandell on flute.
